The City story began when Willie and Susan Haughey were inspired to make a positive change to the facilities management industry, establishing City Refrigeration Holdings (UK) Ltd in 1985.
Willie and Susan founded their new enterprise on the values of collaboration and transparency, replacing traditional client-contractor relationships with long-term, mutually beneficial partnerships.
Under this innovative model, each of our partners receives a unique strategy, shaped by the needs of their business, and implemented by a specifically tailored engagement model.

City launched in Australia in September 2009. Over the years, we have strengthened initial partnerships with leading retailers, including Coles and Target, while also welcoming new partners including Bunnings, Kmart, Goodstart Early Learning, Australian Red Cross Lifeblood, mycar, and Guzman Y Gomez.

Willie and Susan Haughey founded City Refrigeration Holdings UK Ltd in Glasgow, UK.
1995
Long-term partnership with ASDA launches.
2005
City establishes its construction arm and engineering division.
2009
City launches in Melbourne, Australia, in partnership with Coles.
2014
Target partnership launches in Australia.
2015
City launches in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in partnership with Dairy Farm.
2016
North American office opens in partnership with Southeastern Grocers.
2017
Target partnership in Australia is renewed for another 10 years.
2018
Dairy Farm partnership expanded, servicing 630 sites in Singapore.
2019
Marks and Spencer partnership, servicing 1,000 sites, launches in the UK. In Australia, City launches new partnerships with Australian Red Cross Lifeblood and mycar.
2020
In Australia, City commences services with Bunnings and launches partnership with Guzman y Gomez. New Zealand operations commence.
2021
Goodstart partnership servicing over 670 childcare centres across Australia launches.
2022
Bunnings cleaning partnership rolls out across Australia.
2023
City commences services with H&M in Singapore and Malaysia. 7-Eleven partnership launches in Malaysia. Morrisons Supermarkets partnership commences in the UK.
