Frequently Asked Questions

What are the changes?

Bunnings has announced an extended partnership with City to oversee the management and operations of its cleaning services across the Bunning’s store network. This will involve a phased rollout of City’s Centralised Cleaning Program (CCP).

For now, cleaning services will continue to be delivered through Bunnings’ existing cleaning contractors. From December, we will begin inviting expressions of interest from individual cleaners to join our cleaning team and we hope that they’ll continue the important role they play in Bunnings sites.

When are the changes happening?

From December, we will begin inviting expressions of interest from individual cleaners to join our cleaning team and we hope that you’ll continue the important role you play in Bunnings sites.

An expression of interest form, clear instructions on how to fill it out, and support contact details to assist you with submission, will be provided closer to the date.

How will City decide who will be selected for the permanent roles?

City will apply a structured application and assessment process that will ensure selection is based on merit and experience. Note: Applicants will need to comply with any visa working right obligations / limitations and undergo a pre-employment medical, which City will cover the cost of.

Will I work the same hours as I do now?

Bunnings and City have developed a revised cleaning program that will alter the cleaning workload at sites. In most cases, store cleaning hours will remain at or near the current hours. In all cases, cleaning will commence approximately 45 minutes prior to store trading hours and continue based on store size and cleaning needs. In all cases, shifts will be as long or longer than the minimum Award requirements.

Is this a transfer of business from my current employer to City?

No, it is not. There is no arrangement between your current employer and City in relation to City deciding to directly service Bunnings, nor in relation to you making an application for employment with City. If your application for employment with City is successful, your employment with City will start with a new employment contract, and you will need to finalise your employment arrangements with your current employer prior to commencing with City.

Will my Annual Leave / Sick Leave or other service-based entitlements with my current employer rollover to City?

No. As this is not a transfer of business but rather completely new employment. You will need to finalise all your leave / other entitlements before starting with City. Nothing will be rolled over to City from your previous employer.

A City uniform and appropriate PPE will be provided.

Are there development opportunities for me with City?
